We use a new curriculum series developed by Scott Foresman that
provides a seamless scope and sequence for grades K through grade 8.
Algebra
I is standard in the 8th grade.
In addition, to this we add the Daily Mathematics
program from Great Source. It features real world problems
involving number sense, patterns, estimation and geometry to
help students improve critical thinking and problem solving
skills.
In the fall, the 2nd grade
students do Pumpkin Math. They estimate the size, weight and
number of seeds in the pumpkin. Then they measure and weigh the
pumpkin. Then they carve the pumpkin and count the seeds.
