Music, Band, and Physical Education

These subjects are strongly linked to the other academic subjects being covered. These subjects are taught by specialist teachers.

Music

The Kindergarten through fourth grade students have music twice a week. They sing a variety of classic children's songs, hymns and contemporary Christian music. They also learn about composers and music theory. Students get a basic introduction to simple percussion instruments in lower elementary grades, as well as the recorder and hand bells in upper elementary grades.

There is a Christmas Concert in early December. There is a Spring Concert at the end of the school year. The students are also invited to sing once a year during worship at St. Michael Lutheran Church, Immanuel Lutheran Church and Zion Lutheran church.

Band

In 2008, a band program was added for 5th through 8th grade students. They perform as part of the annual Christmas program and during special worship services.

Physical Education

Students have gym class twice a week where they learn basic skills, healthy exercise habits and how to have fun and get moving! They participate in Hoops for Heart. The school also participates in the Borgess (one mile) Fun Run in April.

At the end of the school year the 5th through 8th graders participate in the area Lutheran Schools Field Day.

There is also a school wide field day during the last week of school.
